Interactive incursions where literacy, art and science meet.

Hi, my name is Kate.

I am an an author and environmental educator living on the Bellarine Peninsula. While ‘The Butterfly and the Ants’ is my first book - hopefully the first of many - I have been involved in environmental education for decades, including working as an Education Officer for Zoos Victoria, an educational content provider for Parks Victoria, and of course, a classroom teacher!

I am VIT registered, with teaching qualifications in STEM education and inclusive classrooms, and prior to this, marine biology and zoology.

‘The Butterfly and the Ants’ is not my only foray into writing. I have been recognised in several national writing awards for my fiction and non-fiction pieces for both adults and children, including the Text Prize and The Wheeler Centre’s Next Chapter. I was also short listed for the Melbourne Lord Mayor’s Prize for Literature for ‘Almost a Frog’, a children’s play about the life cycle of the Pobblebonk frog, found across Geelong and the Bellarine. ‘Almost a Frog’ is now being turned into a picture book. If you would like to be notified of when it is available, please subscribe to my email list.
